About Us
History
Many union representatives receive requests from Locals and members asking them to investigate the possibility of providing them with a benefits plan. The reasons for these requests are numerous. Currently, many members have limited or no benefits. Also, due to increasing costs, many employers have found it necessary to ask members to pay part of, or, increase the member's portion of benefits costs. Frequently, benefit coverages are reduced in order to control costs, which consequently has a negative impact upon members and their families. The Canadian Benefits Trust was formed in 1996 as a national, non-profit multi-union benefits plan.

What Canadian Benefits Trust Does
The main purpose of the Canadian Benefits Trust Plan is to offer unions and employers with cost-effective management and delivery of employee benefit programs in situations where unions have, or would like to have, some control over benefits. A second purpose of the plan is to create a pooled insurance fund with sufficient reserves to permit self-funding and increase the level of control participating unions and employers can exercise over group benefit programs. The Trust Board and Who is on it?
Canadian Benefits Trust is governed by a board of trustees that includes representation from CAUS and the plan's participating unions.Testimonials
